Sally Clarkson – Inspirational Mentor to Women

Ellen Banks Elwell of Tyndale House Publishers gives an insight into Sally’s writing and ministry

Sally Clarkson is a winsome, encouraging voice for Christian women today. Whether reading Sally’s books or listening to her podcasts, women from around the world find in Sally a kind, refreshing friend who comes alongside them with enthusiastic, life-giving vision. Sally says:

“The keys to living a life of purpose aren’t all that mysterious – they’re spiritual principles found in the Bible. Yet they must be followed intentionally with the understanding that God has hidden potential in your spiritual DNA. That potential is like a seed waiting to be planted into the circumstances of your life. When you commit to following God through your attitude and actions, that seed will sprout and you will begin to thrive.

Remember – it’s not just possible to live a full, flourishing life; God actually designed you to live this way. At sixty years old, I can look back and see that God has honored those decisions I made to live a life set apart for Him beyond what I ever imagined. God is always ready to respond to the one who listens to His call: “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9, NLT).” Own Your Life, p. xix

In addition to Sally’s books, her podcast ministry is popular with women from many countries. While listening to Sally’s podcasts, I feel as though I’m sitting in Sally’s home having a cup of tea. I enjoy her warm, unpretentious voice. I smile when I hear the jingle of her dog’s collar and learn that fresh bread is baking in Sally’s oven. I come away invigorated, ready to return to the space of life in which God has placed me.

Sally and her husband are presently living in the UK, with young adult children studying at Oxford and St. Andrews. For some years, Sally has hosted leadership intensives in the US. Two years ago, she began hosting them in the UK as well. Sally’s 2017 London conference was filled to capacity, with women flying in from around the world. This year, after she held her second conference in London and first in Edinburgh, more groups of women formed to discuss Sally’s books. Jacqui Wakelam (London) heads up one of the UK groups; “I had listened to many guides in my parenting journey over the years,” Jacqui said, “but had never had a mother in Christ to imitate. Sally Clarkson changed all that. I first came across Sally through her podcast, At Home with Sally & Friends, and Sally’s words and voice were drops of grace to my heart. I quickly sought out Sally’s books, and ate up the pages! Here was a woman who not only understood where I was at but had walked the paths before me. Through her wisdom and journey I felt understood, challenged and empowered to live a life Sally Clarkson fully in honour of Jesus. I moved from a victim mentality to embracing the puzzle of a life God had given me. Inspired by the fruit I was seeing in my own life, I rallied some girlfriends to meet monthly, working through one of Sally’s books. My group is in its third year now. It has expanded, and includes single women and those without children, as Sally’s message reaches across a variety of backgrounds.”

Tyndale House Publishers (USA) is pleased to publish Sally’s books. Jan Long Harris, Executive Publisher at Tyndale Momentum, shares:

“I remember the first time I attended a conference where I heard Sally speak. Not only did she offer heartfelt wisdom and inspiring talks from the platform, she and her family served tirelessly behind the scenes all weekend. At the end, there was a line of women stretching out the door – everyone wanted a few moments with Sally, to. thank her and let her know how she had made a difference to them. Since then, as I have come to know Sally personally, I can say firsthand that her life embodies what it means to live graciously. She has a matchless heart for mentoring, inspiring, and leading other women by example. Anyone who has met her, read her books, or heard her speak has been touched by her influence – and as her publisher, we have the privilege of helping bring that message to countless families, in a legacy of influence that will last for generations. It is a blessing to count Sally as a Tyndale author and a friend.”

As women see how Sally imitates Christ, they are drawn into a discipleship journey and empowered to reach out and mentor others with the lifegiving message of Christ. If you listen to one of Sally’s podcasts today, you just might decide to order one of her books tomorrow! Sally Clarkson is the author of multiple bestselling books including Own Your Life and The Lifegiving Home (written with her daughter Sarah). As a mother of four she has inspired thousands of women through conferences, resources and books with Whole Heart Ministries (www. wholeheart.org). She has also advocated relentlessly for the power of motherhood and the influence of home through her Mom Heart conference (www.momhearst.org), speaking to audiences on several continents.
