CLC World Review  (08.04.2019)

At the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in 2014 a band named ‘For King and Country’ takes to the stage and with them they bring a loud upbeat version of worship, possibly one of the most American moments of my life. I was so taken in by this fresh sounding version of worship… Dad… not so much, but
ever since then I have always looked forward to a new album from the brothers and this year we are getting treated to Burn the Ships. The second track on the album is ‘Joy’ and it takes me back to that night in Atlanta. It features drums and an upbeat rhythm that will appear to younger listeners. The song is choosing to ignore the troubles of this time and choosing to place them in Gods hand and to make our voices heard in this day and age. “God Only Knows,” is a song about depression and suicide which speaks of the troubles and struggles of this situation , but offers hope in God’s love. It’s brave and nice to see a Christian band tackle such a serious issue in this manner, especially when it’s an issue which is highlighted a lot in this day and age. There is no denying this album will be for a younger group of listeners and I would class this as a pop Christian album, but for these younger listeners it’s a refreshing well sounding album.
