We live in an age where atheism is all around, and no one seems to have time for God, I think this movie may be one of the easiest ways to share the gospel in 2018. The Case for Christ has been a steady seller in our store and has also seen people asking for the book to accompany the DVD. Based on a true story, Lee Strobel is a self-centred journalist in 1980s Chicago who states that “The only way to truth is through facts”. This view is also shared by his wife until their daughter Alison almost chokes to death in a restaurant. She is saved by a Christian nurse who states that she should never have been in that location at the time and that God must have been in control. Lee laughs it off, but Leslie tracks down Alfie, the nurse, and begins going to church with her. Leslie accepts Christ and Lee responds to Leslie’s new faith with a toxic mixture of contempt, anger and alcohol. He reasons that the only way to “save” his wife from drifting further into what he considers a cult-like faith is to prove to her, once and for all, that Christianity cannot possibly be supported by the facts. The journalist launches into a passionate and secret campaign to disprove his wife’s emerging faith by proving, he hopes, that the resurrection of Jesus Christ never happened. But the facts that Lee Strobel uncovers lead him toward an outcome altogether different than the one he expected to reach. The movie is well shot, well acted and truly shows a life completely changed by a man fi nding God.
