Looking for a bold, new and exciting album to kick off the year? Then look no further than Crowder’s new album I Know a Ghost. As usual, Crowder takes worship music and rips up the rulebook; you never fully know what the album will sound like apart from the fact it’s not going to be like the other artists on the
shelf. I think the best way to describe this album is bluegrass country meets big ballad worship. I will say before going much further that these songs probably won’t end up in your customers’ churches; they are made for a road trip or for personal enjoyment, but those road trips will sound epic with this album on. A
favourite track of mine is “Red Letters”. In this song Crowder communicates how the gospel can have such a wide reach and how it can free an individual from sin. “Everyday I’m Blessed” is a constant reminder that God is able to and will pull you through every circumstance in life, and includes the southern sounds of the banjo and strong upbeat vocals. If you have a younger customer who likes experimental worship then you should have this on the shelf. Crowder’s fans will love this album and there will be some brave customers who will be seeking out some new sounds completely different from the ‘normal’ worship songs.
